Wordless Wednesday – Somewhere in Mora, NM…
Where to Stay in Albuquerque, NM –
The El Vado Motel originally opened in 1937 and was one of Albuquerque’s first motels along the historic route 66. When it first opened, the motel boasted a generous 32-rooms. Today, 10 of those original rooms have been converted into “food pods,” local merchants, and a tap house. The food pods remind me of something similar to food trucks with a permanent residence. The pods offer a variety of food, from chicken dishes, to burgers, to sushi and more! Grab a bite and a pint to eat in your room our at the spacious outdoor seating area.

First Trip to Santa Cruz Lake
I figured when we pulled into this lake it would be boisterous and rowdy as other lakes I have been to usually are. But, when I finally got there, I was shocked at the serenity and happiness I saw around me. Individuals on the shoreline fishing and sitting together, small boats dropping in the no wake lake and fellow kayakers drifting through the refreshing water.

My sweet daddy, at eighty-nine, had a health episode at church this past Sunday that caused my Mom and my brothers to insist on a trip to the ER (in Amarillo no less, 110 miles away). The attending doc pronounced that maybe he had a heart attack, maybe not, that his heart rate was fluctuating between 38 beats and 90 beats. My parents chose to forego a night in the hospital and further tests
Double-Wides, or Finding Happiness New Mexico Style
So would my Beatles posters fit in should I ever move into an upscale Santa Fe home? Would I be required to change my art choices? Along with my Beatles poster, I have a papier mache chess set from Mexico and a funky framed vintage tea towel depicting the state of New Mexico in the 50’s. And a lot of other stuff that is very definitely mine. Stuff most folks might find too goofy.
Paying Attention in Santa Fe
I get to live in what I think is the most beautiful place in the world. I also get to live in the most interesting city, a place that is 400 plus years old and where the architecture is unlike anything else in the world.
