Covid Weekend Entertainment, New Mexico Style
If you’re like my husband and me, you’re sick of staying at home. You’re tired of your own four walls, tired to getting in the car and driving around for hours to entertain yourself, almost (but not quite) tired of the diet limeade slushie you keep stopping for at Sonic on an almost daily basis. (They call it the COVID 19 for a reason, right?)
So we’ve taken to looking for what feels like a relatively safe way to spend time elsewhere without compromising anyone’s health. We are careful, we wear masks, we social distance. We choose places that have been trained in New Mexico COVID safety. And then, friends, if there’s a hotel open that fits the bill in a drivable New Mexico destination, we’re likely to go and spend a night.
Last night it was the Murray Hotel in Silver City.
It’s cold in Santa Fe this weekend. It snowed on Wednesday and got down to ten degrees on Thursday. Our first instinct was to head south and with Dona Ana County cases spiking, we decided to forego Las Cruces for a week or two.
Silver City felt like a good choice, with a high at least ten degrees higher than Santa Fe during the day, and when I got online and looked at lodging options, my first choice was always going to be something locally owned, hopefully historic, unique, and affordable. So here we are, waking up in the Murray Hotel.
I’m dying to know what you’re doing to entertain yourself while staying safe. Leave me your tips in the comments below.
