Even though you can’t dine inside, you can still enjoy El Patron food AND margarita mix, which is something you absolutely have to have today. They have two locations in Albuquerque and 100% of today’s profits will go to Cuidando Los Ninos (dedicated to ending homelessness for children) and the Roadrunner Food Bank. Pet Portraits by Student Artists Raise Money for Espanola Humane Society
Like your pet? Want a portrait of that sweet pooch created by a student artist? KRQE reports that for a donation of only $15, which goes directly to the Espanola Human Society, a student artist will create a portrait of your favorite pet. Shoot, get two!
Espanola Humane has donors who will match your donation so that local pound puppies and kitties can have food, supplies, and vet care, among other things. The student artists are from New Mexico, as well as from elsewhere in the country, all working from home to help the shelter. Find more info or send your pet photo in to this link.
Las Cruces Seniors to be Celebrated with Drive Through Graduation
It’s not quite what everyone planned on, but you have to credit the school authorities with looking for a special way to celebrate their seniors. According to the Las Cruces Sun News, the Class of 2020 will have their graduation ceremony NOT at the Pan Am Center, as planned, but at the aptly named Field of Dreams, where they’ll drive through to receive their diplomas. I’d love to hear what other schools in New Mexico are going to honor grads this year. Find the Las Cruces story link here.
Tucumcari Cafeteria workers recognized for writing 580 messages to kids
Not only are they joining cafeteria workers throughout the state to feed school children while they study at home, Tucumcari school cafeteria workers are including inspiration with their meals. They’ve been writing notes on each bag that goes out, offering just a bit of handwritten love. Find the full story here.
Since the stay-at-home order began, the state of New Mexico school cafeterias have handed out over 3 million meals.
Cancer Foundation for New Mexico volunteers cheer health workers and patients
The volunteers who man the chemo suite, run support groups, and help with events for the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico recently gathered outside Santa Fe’s regional Cancer Center to show their support and love for the health care workers and patients receiving treatment. These are the same volunteers that are, due to COVID-19 measures, no longer able to hand our love, care, cookies and drinks to patients getting treatment.
With time on their hands, they organized a day of standing on the sidewalk with signs and shouts of encouragement. Curious about the Foundation, which provided essential services like grocery cards, overnight stays and mileage reimbursements so that northern New Mexicans can get to treatment? Find out more here.
